Iristel SMS Compliments DID Service
Established in 1999, Iristel is a leading Canadian provider of Canadian VoIP IP Trunking and DID services, with its headquarters in Toronto, Canada. The company was granted a carrier license by the Canadian Radio-Television Commission (CRTC) in 2000 and today it is a national VoIP service provider with the CRTC's Competitive Local Exchange Carrier (CLEC) designation in Canada. Iristel has also deployed multiple, redundant switching facilities and coast to coast Points of Presence (PoPs) resulting in the delivery of a stable local connectivity solution to its clients.
As an enhancement to Iristel’s effective coast to coast DID service, an SMS messaging platform is now included that will provide routing, interoperability, translations and management for seamless messaging between wireless operators and IP-based service providers.
Iristel’s inbound DID services leverage its CLEC capabilities while providing customers the control they need to create new products and services through SIP and VoIP technologies. With Iristel DIDs, not only are interconnection expenses reduced, but the capex required in achieving multiple network redundant points is reduced by having one single PSTN interconnection.
As the first VOIP operator with coast to coast coverage offering SMS enabled Canadian DIDs, Iristel offers a complete approach to meeting the technological challenges associated with today's SMS technological capabilities. Iristel's SMS enabled DID solution will enable VoIP service providers to transparently receive and send SMS messages among different IP and wireless networks.
Iristel's SMS solution provides segmentation of each message which accommodates the differing message lengths necessary for different technologies. Iristels’s solution avoids truncation and ensures that the full message will be delivered egardless of the differing variables.
Iristel's SMS solution also offers a message tracking feature that includes a reporting function that details delivery receipt, the recipient, day and hour the message was received, , as well as a filtering capability, which can be requested to profile specific subscriber’s abilities to receive or reject messages.
The SMS solution offered by Iristel is intended to be used for peer-to-peer messaging and is not a replacement for short-code aggregation type services.
According to Iristel, its SMS interconnections solution with its SMS service using SMPP protocol and all SMPP connections are done via VPNs. The SMS interconnection includes unlimited inbound SMS messages and outbound SMS messages which are offered at wholesale pricing plans, based on usage per month. In addition to this, direct connection to Iristel includes redundant SMPP binds.
