DID Provider Iristel Intros New Phone Service
Yellowknife, Whitehorse and Inuvik in Canada have a choice when it comes to local telephone service, now that a contender has stepped up to compete with Bell’s Northwestel. DID provider Iristel announced recently its local phone service, now available, for residents wishing to switch to a VoIP-based service while keeping their fixed numbers.
"Residential and business customers can cut their local service phone bill in half, keep their existing phone numbers, not have to buy new equipment or change anything in the way they make calls now," said Samer Bishay, CEO at Iristel, in a statement announcing the new VoIP service.
The new local phone service will be sold in Yellowknife through ICE Wireless and Global Storm, while Whitehorse will be sold through Midarctic Technology Services and Polar Group ICT.
Inuvik will be sold by New North Networks.
Having operated as a CLEC for 12 years, Iristel will offer a host of IP-based features, including virtual faxing, video conferencing, hosted auto attendant, IP trunking and wholesale services.
“Our network is fired up, connected to the south and ready to go for people in Canada’s North who are tired of high monopoly prices for landline phone service,” said Bishay. “We’re offering more advanced services at lower prices than the incumbent phone company.”
Iristel is most known for its inbound DID service, a tool for businesses that provides trunk lines to the users and directs calls over them to a varied range of telephone numbers. The main advantage of DID is that it allows businesses to have less telephone lines than numbers. If a company has 100 employees, not all of which require phone access at the same time, they can easily get 20 phone lines but 100 DIDs.
Like its new local phone offering, Iristel’s DID aims to provide a local presence, while lowering monthly costs and improving overall communications services.
Using its CLEC abilities, Iristel’s DID gives its customers the ability to offer new products and services through VoIP. In turn, companies can carry a local presence in major cities across Canada while improving call management services.
With DID, the overall process looks more professional and more convenient, and makes better use of the telephony processes used.
